Dr Anthony Akpan Ikpong
Dr Anthony Akpan Ikpong is a first-class highway bridge engineer, a champion, a story teller extraordinary, and the author of the memoir, “The Big Engineering Fight”. In the period 2014 to 2017, standing alone, Dr Ikpong took on all the bridge engineers in the employment of the Ontario Government and prevailed. It did not matter that the said Government engineers were backed by a cohort of four university professors of structural engineering selected by Professional Engineers Ontario [PEO] and the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO). One against a thousand, and the one man (Dr Ikpong) prevailed with aplomb and in a dramatic fashion.
After Dr Ikpong had provided proof that over twenty (20) highway bridges built in Ontario since 2009 were designed for only 70% of the required strength, a Tribunal of Professional Engineers Ontario that heard the matter recommended that the allegations of deliberate falsification and doctoring of bridge load test results (by MTO engineers) for the Sturgeon River Bridge (located in Northwestern Ontario) be seriously considered and the conclusions published. Predictably, six (6) years later, that has yet to be done, which is why Dr Ikpong is seeking political power so he can ensure that the Tribunal’s recommendations are followed and that those who falsified bridge load test data as well as those who conspired afterwards to cover up the crime (and thus defraud and swindle the Ontario Public) are punished to the full extent of the law. This is why Dr Ikpong is running to represent the Riding of Toronto-St. Paul’s in Parliament in Ottawa.
